"SOLOVOX
is the brainchild of keyboardist/producer Carlton Tietze III, whose deft skill
on the analog ivories and catchy songwriting prowess generate much, much more
than typical "electronica" squelches and blurts. Solovox's debut album, Break
Out of Prism, offers the soul-bearing soar of Low era David Bowie,
but played as if both Booker T and Keith Emerson sat in on keyboards.
A producer, composer, and one-man synthesizer attack squad, Solovox is the sound
of Earl Carlton Tietze III. He starts with his own original music which
spans the genres of house, glitch-hop, breaks, electro, cosmic funk, ambient,
and downtempo acid jazz. He also remixes other artists' tracks and throws
those in for good measure. Then, in the live environment, he explodes with
live synth, organ, and piano playing that is like Herbie Hancock smashing
head-on into the Chemical Brothers. Mayhem usually ensues, and he
consistently delivers one of the finest live electronic shows available
anywhere. Solovox has composed original music for A&E, PBS, and various national TV spots. He has recently been added to NIA's new compilation, Sanjana with Thievery Corporation, Badmarsh & Shri, among others. In September of 2006 he kicked off KEXP's NW Electronic Showcase Weekend with an in-studio performance broadcast worldwide. In April of 2007, he won First Prize in YouTube's Turbo Tax Video competition (here).
